On the afternoon of January 30, the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) Promotion Conference was successfully held in Sydney, Australia. This event is co-sponsored by the China International Import Expo Bureau, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), CCCA Sydney Branch, and the New South Wales Branch of the China Business Council in Australia. The Sydney Branch of Bank of China is the exclusive supporter.

Wang Chunsheng, Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney; Ning Feng, President of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.; Karla Lampe, Executive Director, Trade, Investment NSW; David Lawson, Assistant General Manager, Trade, (Ag, Food and Consumer) at Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade); Zhi Qiaoling, chairman of the NSW branch of the Australia China Business Council; Mr. Andrew Robb, former trade and investment minister of Australia;  Ian Harrison, consultant of Oz-Town Australia,  and representatives from CCCA, the Economic and Commercial Offices of the Chinese Embassy in Australia and the Consulates General in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, the Australian federal and state governments, business associations and enterprises, about 200 people attended the meeting. Chen Min, Secretary-General of CCCA and Sydney Branch chaired the meeting.

Acting Consul General Wang said that the CIIE is an important measure for China to proactively open its market to the world, demonstrating China’s firm determination to promote high-level opening up and build an open world economy. Australian business people are welcome to actively participate in the conference to expand the Chinese market and share development opportunities.

Ning Feng said that the CIIE has been successfully held for six consecutive sessions. The functions of the four major platforms, which are international procurement, investment promotion, people-to-people exchanges, and open cooperation have been continuously highlighted. Preparations for the 7th CIIE are accelerating. We are willing to work together with all walks of life in Australia to help more Australian companies enter the Chinese market, gain more, and jointly write an “CIIE story” of openness, cooperation, innovation, and win-win.

Karla Lampe, David Lawson, Zhi Qiaoling, Mr. Andrew Robb, and Ian Harrison delivered speech on behalf of the Australian government and enterprises.

At the event site, the CIIE Bureau signed a contract with enterprise representatives to confirm their participation in the seventh CIIE.

With the strong guidance and support of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney,CCCA will continue to actively assist in promoting the CIIE in Australia and promote chamber member companies and other companies in Australia to participate in the CIIE.
