On the evening of November 18th, China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA) hosted the 2019 China-Australia Business Exchange Dinner at the Art Gallery NSW to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China by reviewing the bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia, and exploring the opportunities for future.

 

In the speech, Mr Chen Zheyu, the president of CCCA, said that in recent years, more and more Chinese companies have come to Australia to expand their business. This stimulates the rapid growth of CCCA. China has made remarkable achievements in the past 70 years. It does not only benefit domestic enterprises and people, but also bring great opportunities to other countries including Australia. China’s development has promoted progress in many areas of Australia, and CCCA proudly become a witness, participant and contributor to the win-win cooperation between Chinese and Australian companies. CCCA will continue the role as a bridge of communication between the governments and enterprises of the two countries and deepen and strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two sides.

 

Mr Gu Xiaojie, the Chinese Consul General in Sydney, attended the event and delivered a speech, saying that since the founding of People’s Republic of China for 70 years, China’s achievements in various fields have attracted worldwide attention. Over the past 70 years, China has adhered to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the Chinese people have made a historic leap from standing up, getting rich, and becoming stronger. China has been committed to win-win cooperation with all countries in the world, and is an active participant and firm supporter of economic globalization.

Gu Xiaojie pointed out that the current China-Australia relationship is at an important stage of development, and local cooperation is the foundation and driving force for China-Australia relations. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of friendly province-state relations between Guangdong Province and New South Wales. Recently, the Fujian Provincial People’s Government and the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney also hosted the Australian “China – Fujian Week” event. It is hoped that on the basis of mutual trust and mutual benefit, China and Australia will further strengthen friendly exchanges, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve common development.

 

The Hon Warwick Smith AO, Chair of National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, said that China is not only Australia’s largest trading partner, but also an important source of foreign investment for Australia. The Australia-China Council will not only focus on the fields of education, culture and art, but also promote cooperation between the two sides in agriculture, infrastructure, health and environment, and energy, and promote the development of China-Australia relations.

 

In his speech, David Olsson, the new National President of the Australia China Business Council, said that ACBC as the association promoting industrial and commercial cooperation between the two countries, will continue to strengthen cooperation with CCCA to jointly promote economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

 

During the dinner, CCCA announced the board of directors and the vice presidents, and awarded the honorary chairman of CCCA to Mr Chen Huaiyu, General Manager of Bank of China Sydney Branch. Mr Huang Rengang, the Minister Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Australia, attended the dinner and delivered a speech. The heads of the business offices of Chinese consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide attended the dinner.

 

China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA) was founded in 2006 and is a non-profit national organisation jointly formed by Chinese enterprises in Australia. he Mission of the CCCA is to provide services to its members, protect their legal rights, promote the development of the bilateral China-Australia economic trade relationship, and enhance communication between companies in both countries. The organisation aims to serve as a bridge between Australia and China to facilitate the business development of its members in the two countries.
