On the afternoon of April 22, 2020, the Sydney branch of China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA) successfully held its first Sydney Chapter Of 2020. The Council is in the form of online video conference. A total of 26 members of the Sydney branch, authorized representatives and secretariat staff attended the meeting.
Mr Chen Zheyu, President of CCCA and Sydney Branch, reviewed and summarized the work of Sydney Chapter since he took over as President in June 2019. President Chen said that the Sydney branch actively promote economic and trade exchanges between China and Australia, organize members to participate in the charity work for bush fire and China-Australia fight against COVID-19, enhance the public image of CCCA, help member enterprises to develop and comply in Australia, and enrich member’s life. Since the first quarter of 2020, affected by COVID-19 outbreak, CCCA timely research and help to solve the difficulties members encountered caused by the outbreak, establish outbreak monitoring report and emergency management platform within Sydney branch and host various online professional lectures for members, to help members timely grasp the dynamics of the epidemic, access to prevention materials procurement channels, improve the compliance of operation. CCCA’s industry / professional committees also presented the work of the first quarter of 2020 and the plan for the year.
The committee discussed and voted on the change of board members of Yancoal Australia Ltd. and Shenhua Australia Holdings Co., Ltd., and will submit the resolution to National Committee.
At last, the special guests invited by the committee, Counsellor Wang Hongbo and Consul General Wang Long, from Economic and Commercial Section of the Consulate General of China in Sydney, introduced current international and Sino-Australian economic and trade developments. Counsellor Wang Hongbo pointed out that CCCA is playing an increasingly important role in China-Australia economic and trade relations. It is an active promoter, a rational communicator, a permanent supporter and a trusted partner. She suggested that CCCA should continue its original intentions, provide support for Chinese-funded enterprises , and contribute to promoting the cooperation between Chinese and Australian companies to overcome the impact of the epidemic and continue to deepen economic and trade cooperation.
The Sydney branch committee successfully completed scheduled agenda. The committee members of Sydney branch will join forces and work together with all CCCA members, forge ahead, work hard, step by step, and push forward the work of CCCA.
