On September 17, the 2023 Sydney Marathon once again presented a spectacular scene – more than 40,000 runners from all over the world participated in this internationally renowned marathon event, sweating in the sudden high temperature weather in Sydney’s spring and fighting hard to complete the challenge. The Sydney Branch of CCCA has been organizing members to participate in the Sydney Marathon running event for more than ten years. This year, it organized more than 400 people from member organizations to participate in the competition. Ye Wei, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney, Ren Li, President of CCCA and Sydney Branch, leaders and representatives of executive committee, Chen Jianyu, President of the Sydney Branch of ICBC, the main sponsor of the event, and secretariat staff participated in the running event.

Counselor Ye Wei said that he was grateful to CCCA Sydney branch for actively organizing the annual marathon running event, and also thanked the member units for their strong support for this year’s event. He hoped that everyone would ensure safety during the event and run with style. President Ren Li expressed his sincere gratitude to the Economic and Commercial Office of the Consulate General for its guidance and support for this running event. This year is the first time CCCA has organized a cross-sea long-distance running event after the epidemic. We would like to thank all member units and their families for their enthusiastic participation, and also thank ICBC Sydney Branch, China Unicom Australia, and Taiping Insurance Australia Representative Office for their support of this long-distance running event. The proverb goes, “One person can run fast, but a group of people can run further.” CCCA is a big family, let us support each other and work together! Chen Jianyu, President of ICBC Sydney Branch, gave everyone the order to start. Secretary-General Chen Min presided over the speech session and organized everyone to take photos.

When it was time to start, members and the crowd started running together with the rhythmic cheers! Everyone stepped forward together, leaving beautiful figures of sweating and forging ahead on the beautiful Harbour Bridge and on the side of the Opera House.

The Sydney Marathon Running Festival, which originated in 2001, attracts tens of thousands of long-distance running enthusiasts from dozens of countries to participate every year. The competition activities are divided into four categories: full marathon, half marathon, 10-kilometer cross-bridge run and 3.5-kilometer family run.

The Sydney branch has participated in running festival activities for many years in a row, and continues to support local charities through participation in this event, showing care for the disadvantaged groups. The successful holding of this event has enriched the spare time life of Sydney branch members, further promoted communication and interaction among members, and reflected the unity and cohesion of the champer family.
