On December 3, 2021, the 2022 Annual General Meeting of China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA) was successfully held via video conference. Charge de Affaires Wang Xining of the Chinese Embassy in Australia attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Ye Wei, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney, and the heads of the economic and commercial organizations in Australia attended the meeting. A total of more than 100 people attended the meeting, including Chen Zheyu, president of CCCA, presidents of state branches, executive directors, directors, relevant authorized representatives, sponsor representatives, some members from all over Australia and secretariat staff. The meeting was presided over by Chen Min, Secretary-General of CCCA.

In his speech, Mr Wang spoke positively of the Chamber’s unremitting efforts in serving the sound operation of Chinese-funded enterprises and promoting the healthy development of Chinese-funded enterprises, and fully affirmed the work done by CCCA.Mr Wang said that in the past year, China has successfully held a series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. It has maintained a good development trend under the severe situation, which reflects the strong resilience and vitality of the Chinese economy, and is also the inevitable result of China’s long-term adherence to the policy of deepening reform and expanding opening up. Mr Wang hopes that CCCA and Chinese-funded enterprises in Australia will earnestly study and implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China in the new year, promote the healthy development of China-Australia economic and trade cooperation; strictly abide by the laws and regulations of China and Australia, explore various cooperation channels and Ways: continue to tighten the string of epidemic prevention and control, and keep ringing the alarm bells for safety production; actively adapt to the development of Australia’s national conditions, carry out international and localized management, strive for good economic and social benefits, and establish a good image of Chinese enterprises. Charge d’Affaires Wang said that the embassies and consulates in Australia will, as always, provide good services to the Chamber of Commerce and Chinese-funded enterprises in Australia.

President Chen Zheyu introduced the work of CCCA in 2021 and the work plan for 2022. He said that in 2021, CCCA has made important achievements in epidemic prevention and control, promotion of economic and trade cooperation, protection of the legitimate rights and interests of member companies, and system construction. Next year, CCCA will continue to showcase the image of Chinese companies in Australia, promote the development of China-Australia economic and trade relations with practical actions, continue to strengthen communication and cooperation with local governments and institutions, innovate service forms, consolidate basic management, and further enhance the external influence of CCCA and internal cohesion, and continue to work hard to strengthen the influence of CCCA and safeguard the rights and interests of Chinese-funded enterprises

Meeting Attendees

At the meeting, Addsum Accountants made an audit report on the financial status of CCCA in the 2020/2021 fiscal year.

The meeting also notified the voting matters of the National Committee and the Board of Directors. These include changes in the personnel of some committee units across Australia, changes in the chairman of industry committees, changes in the secretary general, and changes in the vice presidents of the branches.

Representatives of the Chamber’s sponsors PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia, Ernst & Young Australia and NIB (Iman Australia Health Plans LTD) spoke at the conference.

Finally, the heads of the economic and commercial organizations of the Chinese embassy and consulate in Australia respectively introduced the situation of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and put forward opinions and suggestions on the work of the chambers in each jurisdiction. The branches of CCCA in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney also summarized their work and reported their work plans for next year.

This online meeting successfully completed the scheduled agenda and pointed out the direction for the work of the Chamber of Commerce in 2022. All the directors and members will further unite and cooperate, forge ahead, and make greater contributions to the healthy development of China-Australia economy and trade. .
