On the afternoon of December 4, 2023, the 2023 China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA) National Committee and Members Meeting was successfully held in Canberra. More than 40 people attended the meeting, including presidents of state branches, executive directors, directors, and relevant authorized representatives across Australia. Representatives from the business offices of the embassy in Australia and consulates general of states attended the meeting. Secretary-General Chen Min presided over the meeting.

The Chairman of CCCA, Ms Ren Li, made a report on the work of CCCA in 2023. She pointed out that this year, CCCA has actively integrated into the development trend of China-Australia relations, served the China International Import Expo, the Chain Expo, various investment promotion activities in Australia, cultivated the RMB market, and helped bilateral economic and trade relations. CCCA played the role on strengthening the coordination of various branches, strengthening the penetration of various professional committees, creating exciting events and pushing to a new level for horizontal and vertical linkage of CCCA. We will make every effort to build an external exchange platform for CCCA, strengthen communication and cooperation with local governments, counterpart associations and think tanks, and promote new breakthroughs in interconnection with the industry. Continue to improve member service levels, promote information sharing, enrich activity forms, strengthen self-construction, and push the chamber’s stable operations to a new level.

Chairman Ren Li proposed that in 2024, CCCA will proactively participate the overall development of China-Australia relations, solidly perform its responsibilities as a chamber of commerce, adhere to win-win cooperation, continue to serve the economic and trade development of China and Australia, adhere to service first, continue to improve member service levels, and adhere to compliance operations and continue to improve its own mechanism construction.

At the meeting, professional committees such as the Legal and Compliance Committee, Financial Industry Committee, Resources and Energy Committee, Women Entrepreneurs Committee, Aviation Industry Committee, and Foreign Relations Committee also made work reports respectively. The branches in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney summarized the results of their work in 2023 and looked forward to key tasks in 2024. King & Wood Mallesons, the legal advisor of CCCA, summarized the legal compliance work and explained the latest laws and regulations. The meeting also voted to approve changes in the vice chairman, changes in some governing unit personnel and professional committee chairs, and other matters.

Representatives from the Economic and Commercial Office of the embassy and consulates in Australia fully affirmed the fruitful results achieved by CCCA and its branches in promoting China-Australia economic and trade cooperation and serving the development of enterprises. They also introduced the development situation of bilateral economic and trade cooperation based on the current situation of the region. , shared valuable experiences and suggestions. Counselor Ye Wei of the Consulate General in Sydney made a concluding speech, fully affirming the positive contribution made by CCCA in promoting the healthy development of China-Australia economic and trade relations, and raising high expectations for the next stage of work: First, seize opportunities and continue to expand the influence. The second is to fully understand the development situation of Chinese-funded enterprises in Australia and show the feature of Chinese-funded enterprises. The third is to further improve member services and enhance members’ sense of gain and the cohesion of the chamber.

Afterwards, the chamber held the annual meeting of members. The meeting voted to approve the new directors and notified the voting matters of the National Committee meeting. Addsum Accounting Firm has made an audit report on the financial status of CCCA for the 2022/2023 fiscal year.

This conference successfully completed all scheduled agendas and pointed out the direction for the work of CCCA in 2024. All directors and members will further unite, collaborate, forge ahead, and make greater contributions to promoting the healthy development of China-Australia economy and trade.
