On 11 December 2025, China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA) successfully held its 2025 National Members’ General Meeting and Gala Dinner in Canberra.

At the Members’ General Meeting, resolutions were passed to approve amendments to the Chamber’s constitution, the revamp of its official website, and the proposed establishment of a New Energy Professional Committee, among other matters. The meeting also completed the leadership transition for the new term, including the election of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, President, Vice Presidents, and Secretary-General.

The gala dinner was attended by H.E. Xiao Qian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Australia; Gao Zhilei, Acting Deputy Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Boyle, Deputy CEO of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission; Shen Wen, Chair of the Australia China Business Council; Tippin, Chair of the Export Council of Australia; Li Mang, President of CCCA and General Manager of Bank of China Sydney Branch.

A video address was delivered by Don Farrell Hogan, Australia’s Minister for Trade and Tourism. Jiang Longhua, Director of the State Grid Corporation of China Representative Office in Australia, delivered remarks on behalf of member enterprises. The dinner was co-hosted by Ma Lei, Secretary-General of CCCA, and Jiang Wei, Secretary-General of the Melbourne Branch.

More than 230 guests attended the dinner, including heads of Chinese consular missions and commercial offices in Australia, presidents of the Chamber and its state branches, national executive council members, directors, authorised representatives, member representatives, as well as representatives from local business associations and sponsors

Ambassador Xiao Qian stated that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China–Australia relations have fully rebounded and are showing strong positive momentum. He noted that Chinese-funded enterprises are an important force in deepening China–Australia economic and trade cooperation and have made positive contributions to Australia’s economic growth and social development. He expressed hope that CCCA would achieve even greater development in the coming year and play a larger role in enhancing the wellbeing of the peoples of both countries and advancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

President Li Mang noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the China–Australia Free Trade Agreement, as well as the beginning of the second decade of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. He highlighted that the business communities of both countries have played an important role in translating government consensus into practical outcomes. The Chamber will continue to work closely with all sectors of Australian society to promote dialogue and cooperation, and to make ongoing contributions to maintaining a stable, open, and constructive China–Australia economic and trade relationship.

Guest representatives from the governments and business communities of both China and Australia stated in their remarks that China–Australia relations are currently developing positively, with bilateral economic and trade cooperation continuing to deepen and upgrade. The complementary strengths of the two economies are becoming increasingly evident, and cooperation opportunities are expanding. They expressed expectations for further strengthened communication and engagement in the future, to promote the sustained positive development of bilateral economic and trade relations.

The gala dinner was held in a warm and harmonious atmosphere. Members and guests engaged in enthusiastic exchanges and interactions via the Chamber’s platform, focusing on aligning with the broader development of China–Australia relations, further leveraging the Chamber’s role, supporting the business expansion of member enterprises across Australia, and promoting the development of bilateral trade and investment cooperation. With confidence and optimism, participants looked ahead to a new starting point and anticipated even greater achievements in the future.
